The IT Senior Security Engineer's role is to ensure the secure operation of the SigSauer computing systems, servers, and network connections. This includes enforcing policy, checking logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating security system components and features, auditing, and troubleshooting. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in conjunction with policy administration. This position also encompasses responsibility for the design, configuration, build and management of the network infrastructure.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides technology expertise and oversight as it pertains to secure design, development and implementation of information technology solutions with a primary focus on security, networks, servers, applications and other infrastructure.
Responsible for the implementation of approved security technologies that align with technical design standards/architecture, business plans and long term strategy.
Makes recommendations to improve operational processes relative to efficiency and effectiveness; provides input and organizational context to major architectural designs to ensure security through consistency, maintainability and flexibility with respect to overall system, technical and product architecture within a domain or portfolio.
Analyzes highly complex system and technical issues to implement secure technologies that align with strategic technical direction.
Guides the development of secure applications, systems, technical, and product standards based on long range plans and vision.In coordination with system engineers and administrators, researches and makes recommendations relative to new technologies.
Deliver artifacts, technical alternative documents and architectural design that meet business requirements; oversees design reviews and frameworks.
Plans and manages execution of secure architecture migrations.Maintains strategic partnerships between vendors, business partners and IT.
Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of secure system implementation, upgrades or support issues.
Contributes toward forecasts of business and IT trends to define the security direction within a portfolio, project within the organization.
Day to day operational tasks as assigned.
Contribute to decisions that impact secure operational effectiveness.
Serve as day-to-day security technology engineer team technical lead.
Develops and enforces security policy and network technology.
Develop and manage risk management system
Reports to the Director of Information Security
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in computer science or related technical or business discipline or equivalent experience; technical Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 10 years related technology experience.
In-depth hands-on knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies; in-depth knowledge of business operations, strategies and objectives.
In-depth hands-on knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles.
In-depth hands-on understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of global business technology trends and the healthcare industry.
Develops and manages effective working relationships with Executives, IT management, and staff to achieve results in a highly complex environment.
Desired knowledge in software engineering languages, SDLC and tools; exposure to new and emerging technologies.
Recognized as a technology expert within the company; mentors and coaches others.
Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
Experience with a variety of programming tools, networking devices, and or application tiers.
Other duties as assigned.
CISSP, CISA, or CISM required or to be obtained within 18 months of assuming the position.
- Work requires ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Work may require moderate physical exertion and/or physical strain.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Willingness and ability to travel 10% to 20%.
- Ability to work under stress during peak workload periods.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
